Examination TextThe Examination of Elizabeth Webb singlewoman taken upon oath this [blank] Day of [blank] in the of our Lord 1740. This Examinant on her voluntary oath saith she is now Great with child which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the Parish of St Martin in the Fields (she now being in the workhouse of and in the said Parish) and that one James Cordell, a Brass Founder who keeps a house in Boars Head Court had carnal knowledge of her body in a room up one pair of stairs forward at his said house on the 10th or 11th of May last past at which time he begot her with child of the child or children with which she now goeth it is pregnant of, and that he the said James Cordell is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the day and year before written before me [blank].
