Examination TextElizabeth Clowes aged 37 years in the workhouse upon her oath saith that she never was married nor bound an apprentice, that she was born at Brownlow near Congerton in Cheshire and came thence about 17 years ago and that about eight years ago she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Henry Palmer, a Baker in Russell Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields and there served him the space of one whole year and upwards, had 5 pounds by the year wages diet and lodging, that she left that service about six years ago and never kept any house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes or lived year together in any one service whatsoever since. Sworn the 24th September [1741].
