This with my humble Service to you & I am very Sorry that I have
this occasion to trouble you with this Letter for notwithstanding that I
had agreed with you for Clay Tye Farme I do find myselfe not able to
Stock it for I had lent the greatest part of my mony as I thought into very
good hands but to my great dissappointmt. find it not so for I [..]
cannot get it in now & am afraid I never shall get it at all I therefore
humbly beg that you would be pleased to excuse me from having the
Farme for this great dissappointment makes me so very uneasy that
I am not capable of doing my business & I thought it mere proper to
acquaint you with my present Circumstance now then that you
should find it so in a Year or two's time for I think that may do
your Farme a discredit as well as ruin me

from Yor humble Servt.

Mr. Glascock
St. Thomas's Hospl. 13o. Decemb:

On the 2d. instant Mr: Eniver came to an Agreement with us
for Clay Tye Farme & since wrote me a Letter of which above is a
coppy I did not take him to be so weak a man as to imagine so
Superficial a pretence wou'd not be seen thro' And I did not take
him to be so injudicious as to make a bargain one day & repeat of
if the next Had he been over reached or otherwise ill used he might
have had reason to complain but as there is no such thing in the
Case he must in all reason stand to his bargain I perceive he is
afraid of the usual Covenant to maintain & uphold for fear of fire
whereas the hazard of that is so small that it is to be insured for
about ten or twelve Shillings a Year or thereabts. So that he frights
himselfe abt. nothing if he has a mind to speak abt. any matters
we shall have a Committee on Wednesday next at ten or eleven
o clock And when you come to town I shou'd be glad to see you
to talke abt. Setting forward the buildings & matters agreed to be
done I am

Yor Affectionate friend
