At the General Quarter Sessions of the peace of our
Sovereign Lord the King holden for the County of
Middlesex at Hickshall in Saint John Street in the
County aforesaid by adjornment on Thursday the
Fifth day of April in the sixth yeare of the reign of
our sovereign Lord George the second King of Great
Britain France and Ireland Defender of the Faith
before William Cowper< no role > John Martin< no role > Alexander Garrett< no role >
and Richard Ricards< no role > Esquires and other their Fellows
Justices of our said Lord the King assigned to keep the
peace in the County aforesaid and alsoe to heare and
determine divers felonys trespasses and other evil deeds
committed in the same County,

Whereas the Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of
the parish of Saint Martin in the fields in this County
exhibited their humble petition and appeale unto the
Court of General Quarter Sessions of the peace holden for
this County on Wednesday in the week next after the

Feast of the Epiphany (to witt) the tenth day of
January last settingforth that by vertue of a pass
warrant under the hands and seales of John Ellis< no role >
and Oliver Lambart< no role > Esquires two of his Majestys Justices
of the peace for the said County (Quorum unus) bearing
date the fourteenth day of December last Phillis
Barnes< no role > the wife of Edward Barnes< no role > and Edward < no role > their
child aged about one yeare and an halfe were removed
from the parish of Saint James Westminster in this

County to the said parish of Saint Martin in the fields
as the place of their last legal Settlement, whereby
the petitioners conceived themselves to be aggreived
And that they therefore appealed to the said Court
against the said Pass warrant and Judgment of the
said two Justices, And whereas by an Order made
by the said Court on the said tenth day of January
last the hearing and determining of the said appeale
was adjourned untill this present General Quarter Sessions
