him some Wine and he made some Water Gruel
for him to take it in, he saw Butcher speak to
Evans at the Door of the Ward but did not know
what Conversation passed and he Complained of
being very ill when he went out, he used to wear
two Flannel Waistcoats and two Coats and an
Handkerchief on his Head Witness gave him the
Medicines sent by Mr.. Webb two or three times for his
Complaint, he had Salts and took two Pills every
Night, I saw him take the Medicines never saw
a Fowl in the place while he Witness was there he
once brought some Pork Chops from the Gate and
say'd. that his Sister had given them to him
never told Witness that he was to sham ill the
Governor never came to see him being very cold
Weather he very seldom went out of the Ward unless
to see his Friends does not think the Governor he [..]
any Conversation with Evan's while he was in the
Ward, I really though he was ill, he complained
very much and was very frequently up in the Night
Mr.. Webb, cross Examined again by Mr.. Nares, I gave Salts
to be applied to Evans for the Flux and think
Anodyne Pills to the best of my knowledge
Opicacuana and I gave a Certificate of Evans
illness. at the request of Mr.. Butcher and some
other Person, Butcher was in the Garden in the
Prison when he applied to me for the certificate I
think some Person was with them but I am not
certain Mr.. Butcher said to me that Mr.. Evans
was very ill and he was requested by a Mr.. Adams
for me to give a Certificate of his being in Confinement
and of his ill state of health he mentioned some
Persons names, I think it was Mr.. Adams he
never mentioned the Governors name to me or said
a Word about the Governor he Butcher never said
that any complaint should be given to me he
Butcher never spoke to me about Certificate but
that time I made out the Certificate when I had
written the Certificate I left it with Nicholson the
Clerk of the House of Correction in the Office I do
