And the said Committee further Report that in respect
to the referrence to this Committee about the Expences incurred by Virtue of the
Penitentiary Act Your Committee not having had any Account yet laid
before them they have not been able to proceed in the same.
And Lastly the said Committee Report that upon
the representation of Mr. Newport the Keeper of New Prison
and Mr. Crozier
the Governor
of the House of Correction
at Clerkenwell
of the want of some
Repairs at their respective Prisons the Committee after view ordered the
same to be done
All which the Committee Submit Etc.
A Motion was made that so much of the said Report last
aforesaid be ratified and confirmed and the same being agreed to It is
Ordered that so much of the said Report last aforesaid and what the
Committee have done in the Premises be ratified and confirmed and the
same is hereby ratified and confirmed accordingly.

It being Represented unto this Court that several of the
[..] Crossings in the pavement of the St James's
Haymarket
constructed of
very large Pebbles being much worn are become extremely dangerous
It is Ordered that it be and it is hereby referred to the Committee
appointed at the Sessions of the Peace holden in and for this County in
the Month Janry 1775 to oppose all Attempts in Parliament that may
affect the Interests of this County in the St. James Haymarket
a deprive
the Justices of their Controul which for the benefit of the Public they have
over the same and to give such Orders as may be necessary to enforce the
Laws relative thereto and to pursue the speediest and most effectual
Methods to promote and secure the Interest of the County therein and also
to repave so much of the Haymarket
within the Jurisdiction of the of the
Justices as is described on the Act of Parliament made in in the 8th. & 9th
Years of the Reign of King William the third and Contract with the
requisite Workmen for the performance of the same and do all other Matter
and Things in the Execution thereof as shall be fit and necessary" to
examine into the present general state of the pavement of the St. James's
Haymarket
and particularly into the State of the Foot Crossings and to
order the said Crossings to be repaired or repaved which ever shall be most
for the convenience of the Public and the
