John Mercer< no role > } Esqrs

Whereas by an Order made at the last General Quarter Sessions
of the peace holden for this County by Adjournment on
Thursday the first day of July last the Court appointed for the
Licencing of Hackney Coaches and Chairs were desired at
their own costs and charges to transmitt to the Clerk of the peace
of this County or his Deputy before the twenty fifth day of
August then< no role > next ensueing true copys of all their By Laws
and of all Admeasurements which he had been taken by
direction of the said Comissioners within the weekly Bills of
Mortality, for the use of his Maties Justices of the peace of this
County, Now upon reading the Answer of the said Comrs to
the aforesaid Order, the same haveing been by them transmitt
to the Clerk of the peace of this County or his Deputy, wherein
they make mention of their having sent therewith a coppy
of their By Laws and a printed copy of the Rates for
Hackney Coaches and Chairs as admeasured and published
by former Comissioners and that they humbly conceive that
they cannot be justifyed in making such a charge to the
Government as a coppy of all the Admeasurements menconed
in their said Answer would amount to, without the direction
of the Lords Comissioners of his Maties Treasury , but that
the said Justices may have the said Admeasurements copied at
their own expence if they think fit, This Court upon consideration
had of the premises Is of opinion that coppys of the Admeasurement
aforesaid are absolutely requisite and necessary for the Justices
of the peace of this County for their information as to the distances
of places whereby they may be enabled to execute the power and
authority vested in them by vertue of the Acts of Parliament for
the regulating of Hackney Coaches and Chairs against
Hackney Coachmen or Divers of Hackney -Coaches who shall be
guilty of extortion or any misdemeanour contrary to the tenor
thereof And doth therefore order that notice be given to the said
Comissioners that this Court insist that coppys of all the said
Admeasurements be made by direction of the said Comissioners
and transmitted to the Clerk of the peace of this County or his
Deputy for the use of the Justices of the peace of this County,
according to the intent of the said former Order, And his Maties
Justices of the peace of this County now assembled in Sessions do
declare that they do not doubt but that if the said Comissioners
will apply to the right honble the Lords Comissioners of his Maties
Treasury their Lordships will Order the expence of making coppys
of the said Admeasurements to be defrayed.
