they will be Subject to corporall Punishmt. by Whipping
Pillory or otherwise in Cases where the Court shall think fit
to punish them in such a degree

6thly.

These methods may also be taken (where Justices shall
think proper) against such Gaming Houses as Sell
liquors by retail, as also against the Houses Comonly
called Night houses which Harbour & entertain Thieves
and pilfering people and are found by experience to be
very mischievous and inconvenient,

But to render these proceedings more effectual, and to
prevent any claudestine methods of obtaining new
licences by Surprise from other Justices who may not
Know of their former licences being supprest or new
licences refused, It is the opinion of the Referrees that
the Court do in the Strictest & most earnest manner
recomend to all the Justices of this County to be very
carefull therein, and to the Clerk of the peace and his
Deputys to Stop all such licences if granted, and give
notice thereof to the Court at the next Sessions where
further inquiry and Order may be made therein, And
also that it be recomended to the Justices Suppressing
or refusing any licence to certify such Suppression
or refusall to the Clerk of the peace To the end that
any licence which may be gained by Surprize from other
Justices in favour of such persons may be Stopped at his
Office, and that notice may be given by the Cryer to
such persons whose licences shall be Supprest or refused,
But this notice to be given by the Cryer the Referrees
conceive need not be extended further then the Weekly
Bills of mortality, where the greatest Number & most
enormous of these houses are kept,

And it appearing also to the Referrees that it is a
comon practice for persons whose licences are Supprest
or refused to be renewed, to Set up some Relation
Friend or servant to take a new licence in their own
names, but Intrust & for the benefit of them who had
