of Hull aforesaid late mate of the said
Ship or Vessel severally make Oath and first the said
John Scutt< no role >
for himself saith that on or about the
twenty fourth day of January last Five thousand five
hundred and Forty Bushels of English refined Salt were
Shipped on Board the said Ship or Vessel at Liverpool
in the County of Lancaster
and cleared there in Order
to be conveyed by Sea to the Port of London
for and on
Account of the said

the owner of the said Salt
and these Deponents the said
John Scutt< no role >
and Thomas
Johnson for themselves severally say that on or about the
Twenty sixth Day of the said Month of January the said
Ship or Vessel with the said Salt on Board her set Sail from
Liverpool
aforesaid for the said Port of London
and that
on or about the second Day of February last the said Ship
or Vessel with the said Salt on Board her in the Course
of her Voyage to London upon the High Seas about thirty
seven Leagues of Scilly was taken by certain persons then
being on Board a certain private Ship of war called the
monsieur belonging to Subjects of the French King then
and still being Enemies of and at War with the King of
Great Britain And these Deponents further say that the
said Ship or Vessel with the said Salt on Board her was
afterwards carried into Port le Orientin the Kingdom
of France and there detained and keptfor the Benefit
of the Owner or Owners of the said Private ship of War
as these Deponents have heard and believe And lastly the
said

been paid to
