Gentleman Deputy Sollicitor for the Excise and Thomas Gurney< no role >
of the parish of Christchurch in the County of Surry Gentleman
Severally make Oath and say And for so he this Deponent the said
George Davy< no role > Saith That at the last Session of Goal Delivery of Newgate
holden for the said County of Middlesex the said James Payce< no role > was
Committed by the Court for several matters of perjury which then
Appeared to the Court to be by him Committed in Open Court in the Course
of his Evidence given by him on the behalf of one Edward Dixon< no role > upon
the Trial of the said Edward Dixon< no role > for Felony for some of which matters
he was Indicted this Sessions And at the next Session of Oyer and
Terminer to be holden for the City of London another Indictment of Perjury
is Intended to be preferred against the said James Payce< no role > for other
matters (supposed to be Perjury) Contained in the Evidence so given by the said james Payce< no role > as
aforesaid not mentioned in the [..] said Indictmet. of this Session and which are to the Effect thereoff [..] Set forth in the following Deposition of
the other Deponent Thomas Gurney< no role > And this Deponent Thomas
Gurney for himself saith that upon such Trial of the said Edward
Dixon the said James Payce< no role > (amongst other things) swore and gave
Evidence according to the best of this Deponents remembrance & Beleif
to the Effect following (that is to say) That Samuel Clayton< no role > (another
Witness who gave Evidence on the said Tryal for the said Edward Dixon< no role > )
used to buy Tea and other Things of him the said James Payce< no role > about
Midsummer one thousand Seven hundred and forty Six and that for
that Reason he then first knew the said Edward Dixon< no role > , That he the
said James Payce< no role > asked the said Clayton to go with him to Bristol Fair
which begun the twenty fifth day of July One thousand Seven hundred
and forty Six and that the said Dixon lived with the said Clayton at
