The humble Peticon and Appeale of the Churchwardens &
Overseers of the Poore of the Parish of Christchurch
London
Sheweth
That by virtue of a warrant under the hands & Sealed of twoe of his Maties.
Justices of the Peace
within the City of London
(one being of the Qnox) dated the
10th. day of February Anno Dm 1698 A male child about three moneths old laid downe
within the Hath leading out of the Cloysters
up into the Girles ward in Christs Hospitall
on the 7th. February 1698 was sent to your Petrs. to be pvided for which yor. Petrs.
conceive They are not Obliged by Lawe to Doe the Hospitall being a distinct house
of Charity from the said Parish And the Governors have used to pvide for the Poore
found therein And whoe pay nothing to the releife of the Poore of the said Parish
in respect of their said Hospitall on greate house scituate in their Parish
Therefore your Petrs. humbly pray your Honor and Worpps:
would be pleased to hear them all in the prmisses And to order
the Treasurer
or some of the Governors of the said Hospitall
to Appear here before you And to Quash the said Warrant
made by the said twoe Justices
And send the said male child
to the said Hospitall to be by them kept and pvided for untill
they can Free themselves of the Charge thereof by due course of Lawe
And They shall Pray Etc.
