The humble Peticon of the Churchwardens & Overseers
of the Poore of the Parish of St. James Dukes place

Sheweth

That your Petrs. Parish lyeth within Aldgate London & consisteth of about
140 houses whereof not above 60 pay to the Poore and but the halfe of that
number capable to bear any Office many of the Poore Jewes Inhabiting
in their said Parish And having many Poore of their owne in the said
Parish to mainteyne And being not able to raise moneyes amongst themselves
sufficient for their releife and maintenance And having not benefitt by marriaged
in Their Church As They formerly had

Their humble suite unto yor. good Honor. and Worpps. is That
you will be pleased to consider of their Poore and meane condition
and inability to releive their Poore And to give them such allowance
out of other Parishes in London As to your Honour and Worpp
shall seeme meete
