The Peticon and Appeale of the Churchwardens & Overseers
of the Poore of the Parish of St. Dunstans Stepny in Midd.

Sheweth

That Thomas Doe< no role > and Richard Doe< no role > the Sonnes of one Thomas
Doe< no role > decd by Warrant from twoe Justices of the Peace dated 13th. day of
June 1699 were brought by the Churchwardens of St. Gyles without Cripplegt .
London to yor. Petrs. to be provided for on the Oath of one William Ray< no role >
that their Mathews last legall settlement was in the said Parish of Stepny in
Middx where he Served as an Appntice for about three yeares with one Mr.
Hilton near Ratcliffe crosse whereas in truth the said Thomas & Richard Doe
the children were bastards And not borne in their said Parish of Stepny

Their prayer is that yor Honor & Worpps would hear them on their
Appeale And cause the said Church wardens of St. Gyles Cripplegt .
to appear before you And to Quash the said Order And send
the said Thomas & Richard Doe the Children backe To the said
Parish of St. Gyles Cripplegate To be Pvided for according to the
Lawe
