The Examinacon of Thomas Cooke< no role > gent . taken
before me this 26th Day of September 1693

This Examint: Saith that on Fryday last one Peter Wallis< no role > came to
this Exaiant he being then at the White horse in Fleete Streete
betweene five and six of the Clock in ye Evening and told this
Exaiant that he was to meete one Mrs Arnold at the three
Neales tongues, upon London Bridge where she was to bring him
by appoyntmt thirtie pounds in Clipt moneyandin Order to
change it for thirtie pound of broad money, and she was to
allow him advantage for the same, and that he had [..]
at her Lodgings in White Fryers that Morneing and she had
Shewed him some of ye money [..] Newly Clippt and said that
never a penny of it was clipt the Day before, but that it was
done that night by her and that she was intending to send downs
Stamps for makeing or Coyneing halfe pence to her husband in
Northampton sheire or the place where he is at the prsent
quartered, and that he had given the said Arnold a Broad
halfe Crowne for wch she gave him three shillings in new
Clipt six pences, upon wch informacon and in Order to detect
her, did goe wth the said Wallis,andto apprhend her, and on
ye way mett wth. one Ireland and a freind of his upon Lodging
Hill and gott them to be this Examints: assistance and goeing
[..] to the three Neates tongues aforesaid found the said
Sara Arnold there in a roome below staires, and [..]
she seeing this Exaimnt: and two more wth him She run
out of the house, and this Examint: followed her and brought
her back and searched her, but finding nothing upon her but
gold and some small matter of silver [..] did not
think it pper to lett her goe untill he had searched her Lodging
and in Order thereunto this Examint: Secured her in Custody of ye two
Psons aforesaid, and was goeing to take water, but called in
at the redd cross Alehouse to speake wth the said Wallis wh [..]
this Examint: had planted there, and he comeing out of the
house went to see if the said Arnolds Sister were not hard
by, and prsently Espied leaveing [..] nere St Magnes Church
and came and told this Exaiant that she was the Pson that
had the Clipt Money about her, thereupon this Exaiant
seized on her and carryed her into the red cross aforesaid
where he found upon her about sixteene pounds & noe were
all wch was newly clipp except one shillings & one halfe [..]
