The Informations of Sarah Berger< no role > of No 108
in the Strand and Ann Hally< no role > Hannah Woodger< no role >
of the Globe in the Strand taken upon Oath before
me this 15th. day of August 1789.

Who being on Oath severally say and first the said Sarah
Berger for herself says that between four and five oClock in the
Afternoon of Thursday last the three prisoners now present who call
themselves Thomas Jones< no role > , Edward Shute< no role > , and SarahJonesRooke< no role > in
company with another Woman came into this Informants Shop in the
Strand when said Sarah Rooke told this Informant that she wanted
a pair of Mans Common working Stockings at half a Crown a pair
that Informant shaved her some, and she made Choice of a pair of
dark ones at the price of half a Crown and in payment for them
threw down a Guinea, that Informant sent her boy out to getforChange
for said Guinea during which time the said Thomas Jones< no role > told
said Sarah Rooke that he liked a light coloured pair when she replied
No you shall not have light ones you shall have dark ones, that
whilst said Sarah Rooke was making Choice of the Stockings said
other Woman who is absent said Sall make haste for we shall
be too late at Billings gate, that after this the said Hannah Woodger< no role >
came over and informed her of what she had seen whereupon the three
Prisoners were Secured, the fourth person having left the Shop
that Informant then discovered that three pair of Stockings had been taken
our of her Window namely two of Silk and one of Silk and Cotton And
that the Single Silk Stocking now produced had been taken from the line
in the Window which last mentioned Stocking was given to her by her
Servant who had picked it upfrombehind the Compter And the said
Hannah WoodgerBergerfor herself says that she lives opposite the said
Sarah Berger and that she saw the three Prisoners in the Shop at that
time, that she saw the said Thomas Jones< no role > take a Single Silk Stocking
