The Examination Information and Voluntary Confession of
John Paxston< no role > Apprentice to Mr Peter Young< no role > of the Parish
of Saint John of Wapping in the said County Ropemaker
Taken this 22d. day of January 1787 before us two of his
Majestys Justices of the peace in and for the said County

The said John Paxston< no role > who is by as admitted an Evidence on his
Majestys behalf on his Oath saith that he has at several times Cut and
taken several parcells of Sarrcd Your the property of his Master Peter Young< no role >
Ropemaker in his Warehouse on the side of the Line house Cut one time
with William Waters< no role > another time with JohnWilliamHicks< no role > and sometimes
with William Hicks< no role > . That the said William Hicks< no role > was with him on
Saturday night last and concerned in taking the Sarrcel Yarn now
in the Bag produced out of his said Masters Warehouse Situate as
aforesaid and that they Cut Off more Yarn than the said Bag
would contain. and that they then cut Off apart which they kept behind
This Examinant and Confessant further Saith that he went first
and the said William Hicks< no role > followed him with the said Bag on
the Towing Path side of the Lime house Cut. and that when he got in
the Bridge over the said Cut. the Watchman John Jones< no role > Cut him a
Good night. That he wished him the same and went over the said
Bridge and that soon ofter the said Watchman called to him to
Sup. That he accordingly went hack but preceiving the said
Watchman coming towards him he walked away. but the Watchman
again calling to him he went back at which time the Watchman
challenged him with taking the said Yarn when Informant Confessed
to said Watchman he had so done and that William Hicks< no role > was
Concerned with him in taking the Yarn [..] Contained
in the said Bag.
