The Information of George Prime Bentley< no role > of Long Alley
Shoreditch in the said County of Middlesex Baker, and
Ephraim Shailer< no role > of the Parish of Christ Church in the same
County Weaver , taken and made on Oath before me one
of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace , for the said County.

This Informant George Prime Bentley, on his Oath Saith,That on the
Twentieth day of December Instant, having been told by one Thomas Hatton< no role >
that he could buy Counterfeit half pence at the Boot Alehouse in Grub street ,
at the rate of Twenty seven shillings, or Thirty shillings, for a Guinea, This
Informant went in Company with the said Ephraim Shailer< no role > to the said
House which is kept by one Rosamond. That when he went into the
House, Mrs. Rosamond the Landlady was in the Bar. That this
Informant applied to her and said he came from Thomas Hatton< no role > to
buy some Counterfeit Half pence, that she then asked this Informant
which he would have, those at Twenty seven, or those at Thirty. That
this Informant replied, those at Twenty seven; To which she rejoined
she had none at Twenty seven, but had some at Thirty, and then asked
this Informant whether they were for Town or Country. That this
Informant then told her it did not matter which, for if she had not
those at Twenty seven, he would have those at Thirty. That the said
Mrs. Rosamond then said to this Informant if you'll give me the
Guinea [..] I will send for them and they will be ready in a
few minutes. That he then paid her the Guinea and asked her if he
could go with the person and fetch them, to which she replied he could
not, for it won't do for any Person to go where they make them. That
he then went into the Taproomandclose adjoyning, where the said
Ephraim Shailer< no role > was sitting, drinking Beer, and there this Informant
drank a penny worth of Purl which he had called for at his first going
into the house. That in about Eight or Ten Minutes Mrs. Rosamond
came to this Informant into the Taproom and told him the Half pence
were come. This Informant then went out of the Taproom towards the
Barr where a Woman was standing whom this Informant believes
to have brought the Half pence by the Order of the said Mrs. Rosamond
That on his coming up to the Woman at the Barr Mrs. Rosamond said
to this Informant here is the Woman with the Half pence, upon which
the woman delivered to this Informant a Paper parcel containing six
smaller parcels, in each of which were One Hundred and twenty Counterfeit
half pence; Except one of the said small Parcels which wanted four of [..]
number. And further Saith That the Counterfeit Half pence now produced
are the same that he bought of the said Mrs. Rosamond.

And this Informant the said Ephraim Shailer< no role > Saith That he was
present at the said house, at the time the said George Prime Bentley< no role > bought
the said Counterfeit Half pence of the said Mrs. Rosamond and that this
Informant heard the Conversation which passed between the said George
Prime Bentley
< no role > and the said Mrs. Rosamond, in manner as above set
forth by the said George Prime Bentley< no role > And Saith That the said Mrs.
Rosamond sold the said Counterfeit Half pence to the said George Prime
Bentley.
