taken before me this 1st. day of August 1781.
Who being on Oath say and first the said John White< no role >
says
that last Evening between 9 and 10 o'Clock he went into the
Shop of the said George Nokes< no role >
to buy a pennywort [..]
Butler. where he saw a Person now present who ca [..]
herself Mary Williams< no role >
. That he there observed the said
Mary Williams< no role >
take a Ham now produced from amongst a
number of other Hams, bide the same under her Cloak and
walk away with it. That he followed her & brought her
back and at the Shopdoor she dropped the said Ham
from under her Cloak. And the said George Nokes< no role >
for Himself says that the Ham now produced is his
Property and as he verily believes was Stolen out of
his Shop by the said Mary Williams< no role >
as above
mentioned.
