The Information of

Landlord
of the Three
Compasses
near Mile End Turnpike
taken before me
this 31st. day of August 1781
Who being upon Oath says that at about 11 o Clock in the
Night of the 13th.. of June last he was stopped in the New Road that
leads from Cannon Street
to the London Hospital
by three Footpads
one of whom robbed him of a Corkscrew and in the Scuffle (he having
refused to be robbed) fired a [..] Pistol at him, the shot or Ball of
which slightly graced his headSays that he is very sure a
person now present who calls himself John Steward< no role >
is one of
the said three Footpads and is the identical person who took
the Cork Screw out of his pocket and fired the said Pistol at him
