The Committee also again examined Mr. Lewis viva voce as to his
conduct in the business of the Contract

Resolutions of Commee.
respecting the accident.Resolved that it is the opinion of this Committee that
whether the accident arose from the party wall not being bonded
with the Hall Wall, or from other causes, the blame attaches [..]
solely upon the Contractor; upon whom it was incumbent
to have apprized himself of every danger and to have guarded
against it [..] accordingly.

Resolved that upon every view of the case the Committee
are of opinion that the Contractor is compellable at Law to
complete the Contract agreeably to their former Resolution
and that the Governors ought not to enter into any new
treaty with the Contractor until he has unequivocally
acknowledged that fact.

Resolved that the further consideration of this Subject
be adjourned to the 2d. Thursday in November and that
the Governors who were at the Committee on the 14th: August
last as well as on this day be particularly desired to
attend as also the Surveyor.
