Elizabeth Preston< no role > widow of Robert Preston< no role > mariner
deced maketh oath That She has been informed by her
Said late husband (& which information this Deponent believes
to be true) That her said husband was born in the
in the County of Kent and that he also
Served an apprenticeship in the Sea Service but with whom
he never informed her. That about Seventy four Years ago
She was lawfully married to her said late husband in the
Parish Church of St. Botolph without Aldgate London
That to her Knowledge information or belief her said husband
never rented a house of the Yearly Rent or value of Ten Pounds
nor ever Served any Parish offices nor Paid any Scavengers
Poors Rates or Kings Taxes nor to her knowledge information
or belief ever did any Act to gain a Settlement in his own
right (Save What he might Acquire by his Birth and
Apprenticeship as aforesaid. That this Depont. Cannot
Set forth or discover the Settlement of her Said late husbands
Parents or either of them & That She this Deponent Since her
Said husbands death hath not rented a house of the Yearly
rent or value of Ten Pounds nor Paid any Poors Rates or
Kings Taxes nor to her knowledge or belief hath She done
any Act Since her Said husbands Death to gain a Settlement
in her own right.
