John Whitmore< no role > Esqre . having stated to this Court that
John Walton< no role > Esqre . was desirous of nominating a Governor
but from very severe in disposition it was impossible for
him to attend in Person;

Mr. Treasurer & Mr.
Whitmore to attend
Mr W: to receive his
Nomination.


Resolved that Mr. Treasurer and Mr. Whitmore
be requested to wait on Mr. Walton to receive his
Nomination, and that the same be presented to the
next Court.

Motion Etc.


The following Motion was then proposed and Seconded;

Apprentices


That it is the Opinion of this Court, that the
Institution of Apprentices in this Hospital is
conformable to the Covenants of the Indenture
made between King Edward the Sixth, and the
Mayor, Commonalty, and Citizens of London; and
to the Letters Patent granted in consequence thereof;

And on being put, the following Amendment having
been proposed and Seconded that all the Words after
the Word "That", be left out, and the following Words
added;

The consideration of the Institution of Apprentices
be postponed, until the Report of the Select Committee
of 1798, has been taken into Consideration.

Which having been put passed in the Negative, And
the first Motion was then put and was carried in
the Affirmative.

It was then proposed and Seconded;

That the Thanks of this Court be given to the Select
Committee appointed on the first day of March
1798 for their Report, and for the attention they
have paid to the Matters referred to them.
