Mr John Whalley< no role > one of the Governors of these Hospitals Reported to this Court
that in Pursuance of an Order of Court of 19th Decr last he & Mr. Richd Bridgman< no role >
and Mr Philip's Grafton< no role > two of the Governors of these Hospitals had made enquiry &
found that Samuel Aslatt who Served his Apprenticeship in this Hospital to to Nd
James Cundett< no role > Velvet Weaver is Set up for himself in his P Trade & has the
Character of a Diligent and Sober ManIt is Ordered that the Steward of
this Hospital do give and pay unto the sd Samuel Aslatt Ten pounds out of
Mr Locks Gift to be Allowed him in his next Account.

At this Court Mr Alderman Ironside paid to Mr. Treasurer £100 the Gift
of Moses Mendez< no role > . Esq . of Saint Mary Hall Oxford to Bethlem Hospital

Elected a Govr.}


This Court doth Elect Moses Mendez< no role > Esq to be one of the Governors of these
Hospitals and Order that a Staff be forthwith sent to him Notwithstanding the
Order of Court the 29th. day of April 1748.

Beadler Gra ½ Ye X mas 1750


Upon Reading the humble Petition of the four Beadles & Porters Man of the
Hospital for then usual Gratiuties [..] of Forty shillings a peice in respect of the
half year ending at Xmas last for that their Salarys one but Small His Ordered
that the Clock of these Hospitals do give and pay unto them Forty Shillings a peice
to be Allowed him in his next Account.

Basketmendo


Upon Reading the humble Petition of the three Beadles or Basketman of
the Hospital of Bethlem for their usual Gratuities of Twenty shillings a peice in
respect of the half year ending at Xmas last for that their Salarys are but Small
It is Ordered that the Clerk of these Hospitals do give and pay unto them Twenty
shillings a peice to be Allowed him in his next Account.

At this Court Richard Bates< no role > a poor boy (the Nomination of Mr. President
was Ordered to be put out an Apprentice to one of the Artsmasters of this
Hospital.

According to the Plan and Estimate Subscribed by them which they Agree to do for the
Sum of £124.13According to the said Estimate
It is the Opinion of this Comittee, That Coals, and Candles and a Sum not Less than
£80 P Ann be Allowed to an Apothecary to reside in the New intended building and
makeup the Medicines for, and Attend, the Patients, in this and Bridewell Hospital
And that the Shall give Security to dono other business as an ApothecaryAnd
it is Ordered that this be Reported to the CourtIt was Moved that the sd Report be
conformedBut the Court being Acquainted that Mr Alderman Bethell had received
a sealed Letters directed the Governors and that the Clerk had received 3 Sealed letters directed
to the Governors It was Moved that they be read and a Debate Ariseing thereon the Question
was put that the said Letters be now head which Passed in the NegativeThen the
Question being that the Court do confirm the said Report It passed in the Affirmative
And it was their Ordered that the Letters be opened and read which were to the
following Effect Vizt.
