Upon Reading the Humble Petition of John Arnold< no role > Shoemaker
Setting forthThat the Petr Served his Apprenticesp in this Hospital
to Mr Wm. Wenden< no role > one of your Worships Artsmasters by Indre dated 11th July
1741 And by Order of Comt 19th. July 1749 he was made pee of this City & is
Set up for himself in his sd Trade at his Own house in Little St Martins
Lane in the Parish of St Martins in the Feilds Westmr. in the County of
Middx but wanting further Assistance And praying the Governore to bestow
on him some part of Mr Locks Gift the better to enable him to carry on his
said TradeAnd the Comt being informed that the Comee of this
House on the Seventh day of March last Inspected the book kept of
Apprentices behaviour and found no Complaint against himIt
is Ordered That John Lock< no role > Esqr . Mr. Samuel John< no role > and Mr Charles Cotton< no role >
three of the Govrs. of these Hospitals or any two of them be desired to enquire
whether the said John Arnold< no role > be set up for himself in his sd Trade & of his
hopefullness therein & make their Report to the next Court.

Upon Reading the humble Petition of James Allamby< no role > Weaver Setting forth
That the Petitioner Served his Apprenticesp in this Hospt. to Mr Tho Keil< no role >
one of your Worships Artsmaster by Indre Rated the 13th. day of April 1742 And by
Order of of Court 17th. Novr last he was made free of this City the 5th day of March
last & is Set up for himself in his sd Trade at
but wanting further Assistance And
praying the Governors to bestow on him some part of Mr Locks Gift the better to
on able him to every on his sd TradeAnd the Court being informed that the
Comittee of this House on the Second day of April [..] lastInspected the book
kept of Apprentices behaviour & found no Complaint against himIt is Ordered
That Mr. Dance Mr. Cooper &three of the
Governors of these Hospitals or any two of them be desired to enquire whether
the said James Allamby< no role > be set up for himself in his sd Trade and of his hopefullness
therein and make their Report to the next Court.

Mr. Taylor Acguainted the Court that John Greathed< no role > Esq (Son & hair of Dr . Edwd. Greathed< no role > deced
who was Devisee & Extor of Mary Newcomen< no role > deced (who was heir at Law of Sr . Edwd. Barkham< no role >
deced & of Edwd Barkham< no role > Esq deced) And Admtor de bouis non of sd Mary Newcomen)
having brot his bill of Revivor of two Suits in Chancery depending in the life
time of the sd Mary Newcomen wherein she claimed part of the Estate of Sr Edwd-
Barkham
< no role > as Copy hold desconded to her but together with his Freehold Estate enjoyed
by Mr. Edwd Barkham< no role > who devised the same to the Govrs of Bethlem Hospl. who
have ever sime enjoyed the same, And by along Unity of Possion it cannot now be
Distinguished from the Freehold And these Jusisted that a like guarnity of land
out left tobe set out to the use of her & her heirsAnd also claimed a Debt of
£1000 (part of a Sum of £2000) on a Mortge of the sd. Freehold Estate by Mr
Barkham and a Legacy of-20 Guas. by his Will given to her for a RingAnd Mr
Great hed insists he now has aright to the sd Copy hold Land Debt & LegacyTo
which the Govrs. having put in their Answer the Cause was heard at the Rolls the 18th.
of March lastAnd it was referred to a Master to compute what is due for Principal
and Interest on the Mortge & Legacy & to Tax the Plls CostsAnd upon the Govrs
Signifying their consent in a Fortinght by their Clerk in Court Signing the Registers
book to pay the Plt 100 for the Copy hold Land the Plt is to Surrender or Release the
same to the GovrsWhereupon it is Ordered that Mr Saml John< no role > Clerk in Court
for the Defts That Govrs. of Bethlem Hospital be desired to Sign the Registers book
accordinglyAnd that Mr Taylor the Clerk of the sd Hospt. do pay the Sum of £100
to the Plt Mr Greathed upon his Surrender or Release of the sd Copy hold Land to a
Trustee for the Hospital to be Named by Mr Taylor and Mr John.
