Continued Wed 16th. Octr. 1749

That in 1745 The Petitioner Agreed with the Petitioner Walker for the Absolute
Purchase of all the Pmes Comprized in the Old LeaseThat over since said Fire
said Ground has been unlet and no benefit whatever received there from the the
Petitioners have at a long paid the Ground rentThat the Petitioner Brown in July
last Agreed with our Joseph Curtis< no role > to let him a Base for 61 years from Milton 1748 of
the Ground whereon said foor Houses Stood on his laying out £1100 in Building thereon
and at the rent of £16 only clear of TaxesAnd Accordingly Curtis has laid out ever
£2000 in building two good & Substantial Dwelling houses with a Bake house and
Warehouse which the Petitioners Apprehand will be of greater advantage to the Hospital
than of four small houses had been built & will be accepted by the Governors in Rent thereof
That the Petitioners are ready to Surrender said Old Lease & one dessiens that the
said Two Leases may be made to the Petitioner Brown who is willing to Accept thereof and
pay the said Fine of £150But the Petitioner Brown cannot performer his said
Agreement with Curtis without haveing an Additional Term of 4¼ years which with
expire Michas 1809And praying the Governors that on Surrendring the said
Old Lease and paying the said Fire of £150 two NewLeases as aforesaid [..]
may be made to the Petitioner BrownIt is Ordered That the said Petition be
referred to the Comittee of this House to Consider thereof & to report their Opinion
thereon to the Court.

Upon Reading a Report from the Comittee of this House bearing date 13th. Septr. 1749
under the hands of Edward Holloway< no role > Esqr . Trear Doctor Richard Rawlinson< no role > Mr.
John Whalley< no role > Mr. Deputy Pycroft Mr. Philip Bromfield< no role > as follows Esqr at
this Comittee the Proposals of Thomas Booth< no role > of the Parish of Saint Andrews Holborne
in the County of Middlesex Cheesemonger (referred them by the Court the 19th. of July last)
was read Setting forthThat he Proposes to take a Lease of the Governors of Bridewell
Hospital (with usual Covenants between the Governors and their Tenants) of the
Messe on Tenement he now dwells in (No.2) Situate near Hand Alley in Holborn for it
years from Middsr. last at the Yearly rent of £10 clear of Taxes payable Quarterly
at the Compting house at Bridewell Hospital and to pay a Fine of £70 and being
called in the Agreed to layout £68.5.0 in the Necessary repairs Particularly Measured
in an Estimate Signed by Mr. Cordwell & Mr. Cleaver the 20th. of June last and to
Seal a Counterpart of such Lease Whereupon the Comittee are of Opinion to
Accept the said Proposals upon which the said Mr. Booth gave a Guinea to the
Poors BoxAll which is nevertheless Submitted to the Judgement of the Court
And it is Ordered that this Opinion be reported to the CourtThis Court haveing
duly weighted and Considered the said Report doth Confirm the same & Order that a
Lease be made to the said Thomas Booth< no role > Accordingly.
