Upon Reading the humble Petition of Theophilus Armit< no role > Setting forth
That in the year 1720. he being a Lessce for about Seaven years to come of a
Messuage and a peice of Ground in Bridewell Precinct the same was Connaned by
Fire by which over and above his Interest in the Buildings he was a Sufferer to the
Value of £2000That he thereupon Apply'd for a Building Lease & Submitted
himself in all things to the CourtThat the Court were pleased to take the matter
into Consideration & Mr Cordwell an Undertenant of the Petitioners being also a Sufferer
& indebted to him £85 for sent arrear the Hospital (in Consideration to him) propos'd
That the Petitioner should Release him& should raise a new Building to the
Value of £600. Persuant to a Draught for that purposeAnd upon a Supposition
or Representation that by the new Disposition of the Ground the Yard next the new
River Company would for that Companys use be worth 90 or £100 P Ann the
Petitionrs. sent of £30 P Ann was proposed to be made £60 yearly & a Lease to
be granted by this Hospital for 24 yearsThat however unexpected these Terms
Sumed to be yet the Petitioner having so at first proposed to Submit himself readily
Comply'd & accordingly Released Mr CordwellThat he has finished the Buildings
Proposed & has let the Yard to the best Advantage he was able But instead of 90
or £100. P Ann he has been Obliged (after his greatest Endeavours) to Let it at
£40And instead of £600 has been obliged to lay out about £2000. in
finishing the Buildings aforesaidAnd praying that the Court would be pleased
to take his Case into Consideration and to grant him such Additional Term to his said
24 years already Granted as may be some Compensation as well for the Increased
rent as for the extraordinary Expence he has been at in the said Building as to this
Court should Seem reasonable and JustIt is Order'd That it be referred
to the Comittee of this House to Examine into the Allegations of the said Petition and to
Report their Opinion thereon to this Court.

are oblig'd to Contribute to the
Charge of the poor there Etc

Mr John Burnham< no role > one of the Chappel Wardens for this year Acquainted
this Court that Mr John Milner< no role > (who has two house in the Precinct which are
both full of Lodgers) refuses to pay towards the Maintenance of the Poor and Watch of
the Precinct of this Hospital on pretence that he was money out of Pocket in the year
1721. when he Served the Office of ChappelwardenWhereupon it
is Ordered that it be referred to the Comittee of this House to Consider how
far and in what manner the Inhabitants in the said Precinct do or are obliged to
Contribute to the Charge of the poor and other Burthins upon the Precinct and to
make their Report to the next Court.

of this Hospital was brought before this Court from the block where he was
Continued by Order of last Court And his said Master Promising this Court
that he would Speak to the said Boys Aunt to know whether she will Consent
to have his Indentances of Apprenticeship Cancell'd It is Order'd that the
said John Mason< no role > be continued at the Block till the further Order of the
President or (in his Absence) of the Treasurer.
