2d Decemr. 1715

That in the morning of the said 4th. Instant before the Court
Sat two of the Apprentices in this Hospital were by Warrant from
the Right honble. sr Cha: Peers< no role > knt . Lord Mayor of this City
carried before his Lordship and examined upon Oath and their
Informations taken in writeing Sent to the said Court which were
as followes vizt.

The Information of William Brown< no role > aged about
Seventeen years taken on Oath this day

This Informant Sayth That on ye 20th. of Octor. Last
being the Anniversary day of the Coronation of his Majesty
King George in the Evening of the Same day there was ten Shillings
given among the Blew Coat Boys of Bridewell Hospital to drink
under the Gateway of the said Hospital For their, Service which they had
before done in working the Engine at the Late fire in the Strand
That Some of the Said Blew Coat Boys put Powder in the Key
hole of the Gate and that as soon as the Bounce was given the sd
Boys gave a Lowd Hollow and fled imediately to the Gateway and
the Lock not being Blown open with the said Powder) Tho. Atkins
the Turnley told them if they had put halfe as much powder it wou'd
have done if they had put it right and imediately the said Gate
was openedThat James Male< no role > Roger Gething< no role > Brandham
andHarris, the Beadles of the said Hospital might have
hindred & prevented halfe of the said Boys goeing out of the
Yard where this Informant was among them but none of the sd.
Beadles did offer to hinder or prevent themThat this Informant
was forced out by Thomas Prichard< no role > one of the said Boys which
said Thomas Prichard< no role > then said to this Informant that he could
not trust this Informant with a Stick because he was a Presbi [..]
That when the said Boys were out of the Gateway the said
Roger Gethin< no role > told ye said Boys that they might go in when they would
for that their names were taken downThat presently after
Severall men came & encouraged the said Blew Coat Boys out
Saying That my Lord Pelhams Mobb was come down to Fight
them That a Great number of the said Blew Coat Boys went
about the Streets gathering money of People for a Boufire and
