The Report of the Committee appointed to
take the Merits of a Petition from Mr. Edward
Hall< no role >
Governor
of the House of Correction
at
Clerkenwell
into Consideration and report their
Opinion whether any and what Compensation
should be made to the said Edward Hall< no role >
for
the Services therein mentioned
The said Committee Report
That having in pursuance of the Order of reference
to them made Examined an Account of the number of Convicts
in the House of Correction
from whence it appears that at the time
Mr. Hall delivered his Petition to the Sessions the number was
Eighty Nine And having Examined Mr Hall who said that in
Consequence of the number of Convicts in his Custody he had been
obliged for the safety of their Confinement to employ two additional
Men at the Expence of Twelve Shillings per Week and which
Expence he said must necessarily now increase to Eighteen Shillings
as their whole time would be occupied in that Employment
It is the Opinion of Your Committee that the Sum of
