the peace for this County (to whom It was referred by an Order
made in October Sessions 1739 to inspect & peruse the
respective bills of costs of Mr.
John Higgs< no role >
an Attorney at Law &
also Treasurer for the Said County and of Mr.
John [..] Mathews< no role >
an Attorney of the

Court of King's Bench
on the Crown
Side for moneys by them respectively disbursed and
for fees due to them respectively on account of Law busyness
in the Said Order mentioned) It appeareth to this Court that
the above named Justices have inspected & perused the Said
bills of costs, And do find that there is due to Mr. Higgs for his
fees & disbursments for defending two Vagrants Rates in his
Majesty's Court of Kings Bench and also for defending
himself against an Information which was moved for
in the Same Court the Sum of Sixty nine pounds and
Seven Shillings and also the Sum of fifteen pounds &
four Shillings on Mr. Matthews bill of costs, which the
Committee are of opinion are just & reasonable and ought
to be allowed to the Said Mr. Higgs out of the moneys in
his hands upon the vagrant Rate, and also for
defending
defending the Bridge
Rate in the Said Court of King's Bench
the Sum of forty four pounds and also the Sum of Seven
pounds Seven Shillings and Six pence on Mr, Matthews
bill of costs which the Committee are also of opinion is
just & reasonable and ought to be allowed to the Said Mr.
Higgs out of the moneys in his hands upon the Said
Bridge Rate, Now upon consideration had of the Said Report
This Court being Satisfyed of the truth of the premisses Doth Order
that the Said Sums of fifteen pounds and four Shillings and
Seven pounds
andSeven Shillings and Six pence on Mr.
Matthews bills of Costs, (which Mr. Higgs who employed him is
obliged to pay to him) and also the Said Sums of Sixty nine
[..] pounds and Seven Shillings and forty
four pounds due on Mr. Higgs's bills which Said Sums
amount in the whole to the Sum of one hundred and thirty
five pounds eighteen Shillings and Six pence be retained by
the Said Mr. Higgs out of the moneys in his hands as
Treasurer
of this County and that the Same be allowed to him
upon his account.
