Order for electing and
continuing Thos. Lane< no role >
Esqr . to be Chairman of
the Court of Sessions of the
peace for Middx}

His Majesty< no role > 's Justices of the peace for the County of Middx
now assembled at this present General Sessions of the peace
holden for the Said County Do elect and continue Thomas
Lane Esquire to be Chairman of the General Quarter
and General Sessions of the peace to be holden for the
Same County between Michaelmas one thousand Seven
hundred and forty and Easter then next following.

concerning the accounts
of Mr. John Higgs< no role > & John
Matthews of the Crown
Office}

That in Obedience to the abovementioned Order we whose
hands are hereunto Set being five of his Majesty< no role > 's Justices
of the peace of the County of Middx (being a Quorum)
Appointed by the Said Order to Inspect and peruse the
Respective Bills of Costs of Mr. John Higgs< no role > & Mr. John
Mathews have Inspected and perused the Same And do find
that there is due to Mr. Higgs for his fees and Disbursements
for Defending Two Vagrant Rates in his Majesty< no role > 's Court of
Kings Bench And also for defending himself against an
Information which was moved for in his Majestys Court of
Kings Bench the Sum of Sixty nine Pounds & Seven Shillings
And also the Sum of Fifteen Pounds & Four Shillings on
Mr. Mathews Bill< no role > of Costs which your Committee are of
Opinion is Just and Reasonable & ought to be allowed to
the Said Mr. Higgs out of the Moneys in his hands upon
the Said Vagrant Rate And also for Defending the Bridge
Rate in the Said Court of Kings Bench the Sum of Forty
four Pounds and also the Sum of Seven pounds Seven
Shillings and Six pence on Mr. Matthews Bill of Costs which
your Committee are also of opinion is Just and Reasonable
and ought to be allowed to the Said Mr. Higgs out of the
Moneys in his hands upon the Said Bridge Rate all
which we humbly Submitt to this Court Dated this fourth
day of September 1740.
