Order Appointing
a Committee to
Inspect the Laws
relating to the
raising of Publick
Money Etc}

This Court being of opinion that a proper method Should be
considered of for the more ready raiseing, and enforceing the
raiseing levying & collecting of such publick money as hath
been heretofore usually raised by vertue of any Orders or
Rates made by the General Quarter or General Sessions of the
peace, for the purposes hereinafter mentioned, (to wit) for
the repairing or rebuilding of decayed publick Bridges, the
passing & releiving of Vagrants, the releif of maimed
Soldiers & Mariners , for the Marshalsea King's Bench &
Hospitalls, and for repairing or rebuilding of Goals and
houses of Correction, Doth Order That it be And It is hereby

this County or any three or more of them as a Committee
to assemble & meet together at Hicks hall in St. John Street
in the Said County at Such time or times as they Shall
think fit, And to inspect the Laws relating to the raiseing
of such publick money as aforesaid, and to consider and
report to the Court of Sessions of the peace for this County
the defects in the Said Laws to the intent that a proper
method may be thought of by application to be made
to Parliament in Order to remove the Said defects, and
making the raiseing the Said money more easy certain
& effectual.
