told this Examinant that they were going to Rogers to Tothilfields
with a Shirt and Sayd that Rogers's Master [..] charged
him with taking Goods but that the said Roger had not any
That he this Examinant Suspected that the said Gallant and
Morris were then going to see Roger in Prison. That these was
not any Attorney proposed then to attend the Magistrates on the
Hearing of the said Rogers to this Examinant's Knowledge
That this Examinant and the said Gallant and Morris Stopt< no role >
about half an Hour at Tothilfields , but had nothing nor
any Thing given to the prisoner. That Giles the Barber and
him this Examinant one Day in the Week following went
to see the said Rogers, and asked him how he did, and if he
had ever been guilty of robbing his Master, That the said Giles
went and ordered a Pint of Beer, and not of which drank the
said Rogers Health three or four Times over, and wished him
well out of Prison, but that the said Giles made no proposal
about giving the said Rogers a Character or employing an Attorney
on his Behalf nor did the said Giles give the said Rogers
any Advice. That he this Examinant never saw any Lawn
in the Possession of the said Rogers at the Coopers Arms or Keys
and Falcon neither did he this Examinant ever see any Muslin
with the said Rogers at the Bell, nor hath he this Examinant
ever had any Dealings with the said Rogers, nor hath he
this Examinants ever seen the said Rogers dealing with any
other person. That he this Examinant brought from the County
with him ten Pounds which his Father gave him, and fifteen
Pounds which was given him by his Mother, That his Father
held a Farm in Herefordshire of £150 per Annum. That
he this Examinant about Christmas last borrowed five Guineas
of John Gould< no role > , That Examinant pawned his Watch for Two Pounds
twelve Shillings and Six pence in Knight Rider Street. That
Examinant's Mother about three Weeks ago sent him a Guinea
by Mr. Counsellor Phillips's Servant , That Examinant has had
five or Six Shillings at a Time of William Thomas< no role > Cities Examinant
Brother in Law) of George Yard .
