The Examination of Edward
Evans taken upon Oath the Second
Day of March 1786

Saith that about three Weeks ago he went to Haslam's
House and that Mrs. Haslam asked this Examinant if
he wanted any wearing Apparel, and desired this Examinant
to sell some Lawn for her, That Examinant asked the said
Mrs. Haslam from whom she had the said Lawn, but did
not tell this Examinant. That near at Fortnight ago he this
Examinant [..] Rogers (Whom he had not seen before for
the Space of Eleven years), and went with the said Rogers into
the Bell in Noble Street , and the said Rogers there told this
Examinant that he had good Luck in the Lottery for that he
had got thereby near Two hundred pounds. That the said
Rogers also told this Examinant that he was going into
the Country and had been offered One hundred Pounds for
Signing his Interest in some mortgaged Premises. That
he this Examinant received of the said Rogers one Piece
of Muslin and offered ito to sale to one Farmer who key
a Shop in Petticoat Lane but the said Farmer sayd the said
Lawn was too dear, He this Examinant having been chargable
by the said Haslam to take no less [..] than three Shillings
and eight pence for Muslin and three Shillings and Six pence
each for Handkerchiefs which he also offered to sell the said Far [..]
That Examinant sold Goods three or four Times to the said
Farmer and his Mother in Law who lives near the said
Farmer's House. That the said Haslam never was present
when this Examinant took the Goods from his (Haslam
House. That he this Examinant has had Goods of
the saidRogers and mentioned to the said Rogers his having
