The Information of Richard Harper< no role > of
Grays Inn Lane in the County of Middlesex
Saw Maker< no role > who being on Oath saith that on
Monday last the 18th. Instant between seven and
Eight of the Clock in the Evening he saw a
person hand the Box now produced (which Box was directed to Mr. J: Jennings No. 85, to Watling Street London out of the
Barkett of the Southampton Stage Coach, which
corner to the Bell Savage Inn on Ludgate Hill
within this City, to William Daniel< no role > the
Prisoner now under Examination, and says
that when he the said Daniel had got it into
his Custody he can away with it directly
[..] that this Informant pursued the said William
Daniel, and when he came up with him he
the said Daniel ask'd this Informant what he
wanted with him, on which this Informant
told said Daniel that he had got a Box that was
not his own,but Daniel declared that it was
his own property and that he was going to carry
it home; And this Informant further saith
that after the above Conversation took place and
after then prisoner had taken the Box off his head
as it to put it down, he all on a sudden made
a fresh cross the way to escape from this Informant
but was stopt by one Jonathan Wilkins< no role > in sight
of this Informant, and then the said Daniel was
carried by both of them to the one Tun Ale house
on Cotton of Holborn Hill , and afterwards deliver'd him &
the Box into the possession of a Constable.
