The Serval Information of
John Newman< no role > Servant to James.
Willes
< no role > of Lambeth MarshSurry
Brewer of Ann Lee< no role > Servant to the
said Mr Willes and of the said James

[..] one of his Majesty's
Justice the peace in, and for the
said County this 31st. Day of
December 1788

And First this Informant John Newman< no role > for himself
Saith that the Person now Present calling himself Thos.
Giles
< no role > (who is the Penny Post man that delivers Letters
at Lambeth Marsh aforesaid) came to the House inhabited by [..] the
said John Newman< no role > about five o'Clock on Thursday
Evening the 18th Instant and delivered a Post Letter
directed to Mr. Willies And Saith that in about ten
Minutes afterwards the said Giles came again with
another Letter and said that he had over looked it and
had not discovered it until he got to No: 15 on Lambeth
Marsh , that Giles demanded 5d. for this Letter which
was paid him. That very soon after Giles went away
the Informants Wife observed to him that this Letter
appeared to have been Opened and that the Wafer was
wet And this Informant further saith that he very
soon Afterwards the same Evening carried both Letters
to the said Mr. Willes's House and gave the same to the
said Ann Lee< no role > safe and as he received them And the
Informant Ann Lee< no role > for herself saith that She received
from the said John Newman< no role > on the Evening of the said
18th. Instant two Letters for her Master Mr. Willes,
that she Observed to her Mistress that one of them had
been Opened as the Wafer was Wet that the Informant
delivered
