The Information of [..] John Swainston< no role > Taken this Thirteenth and Sworn the Swdcenth day of
October 1786 before us two of his Majestys Justices of the peace in and for the said
John [..] Swainston [..] said County has been from Sea 3 Month, since has been employed on
board of Ships to help rigging and unloding them lodges has a Room of his Own
at the house ofa Broker in Household Good next door to Mr. Jones
a Publican at the head of Angel Gardens Ratcliff highway is single pays 2
a week ready furnishedthat he knows Thomas Moody< no role > one of the other
prisoners well that he lives with one Mr. Poth a Publican in Wapping
was not at work any where Yesterday Says he met Moody about 7 at night
of Yesterday in Ratcliff Highway that they went into several housestoand
had a pint of BeerSays between 11 and 12 As he and Moody were going down
New Gravel Lane they met in the said Lane Fourmen as he believes
who were carrying the Anchor producedThat Moody said to the said men
they had got a fine Lift when the said four men laid down the said Anchor
and desired this Informant and Companion to hold their Tongues. Says
Moody asked them if they were not fearfull of carrying such a Thing
at that time of the nightwho answered no for they often carryed such things
later in the night [..] to the house near where they then were in the said
Lane and into which they carried the said Anchor The door of the said house
being opened the Moment they knocked [..] at the Door say he and
Moody staid in the said house against the inclination of the person who was in the
said house who received the said Anchor from she said Four men who left the house
being all Sea faring men one of Whom he knows by sight and the others he should know
if he saw them againThat they mean had moody stayed in the said house until the Watchman came
that before the Watchman came Two men who he doth not know but thinks he should if
he saw them again came into the said house with Five or six pieces of Cornd beef and put
the same on a Chest in the said house in the Room where the said Anchor was who left they
same went out taking their leave and came back in about Five Minutes where they
staid until the said Watchman came when the men who kept the said house gave the
said Watchman charge of him and Moody when they gave the said Watchman charge
of the said man who received the said Anchor in his house
