For the Said County this 30th Day of
September 1786
Who Saith That about the Hour of Six in the
Morning of this Present Day he was going to Work and that a
Man Whose Name appears to be William Simpson< no role >
Passed by him
having a Bag upon his Shoulder, the Said Simpson observing
this Deponent to look at him crossed the Way Deponent Suspecting
he had something in the Bag which he had not lawfully Come
by Spoke to his Labourer Walking along with him, and told him that
he thought he had something in that Bag that he should not have
Labourer replied it was a Pig For two had heard it Squeak
Deponent thenDFollowed him up to the High cross and Stopping
him told him his Suspicions and Desired to See What was in the
Bag the Said Simpson told him that it was a Pig which he was
going to carry to one Mr Beale Who kept a Lodging House by the
White Bear
at King stand Road
Deponent then opened the Bag
and Found two Pigs therein One of which had its Snont Tied
with a Black String as Deponent Supposes to hinder its Squeaking
Said Simpson Further told him that the Said Pigs Did belong to
William Allington< no role >
his Uncle at Ponders End
in the Parish of Enfield
Who had Sold them to the Said Beale and at his Request he the
said Simpson was carrying them to Kingsland Road
Deponent
then thought proper to confine him in the Page until such Time
as he could enquire into the Truth of the Matter then he
accordingly set out for Ponders End
