The Information of Andrew Hatch< no role >
of Cable Street in the Parish of Saint George
in the County aforesaid Sail Cloath maker
Taken this fourth day of January 1782
before me one of his Majestys Justices of the
Peace in and for the said County.

Who being upon Oath Saith that about the Hour
of Six OClock in the Evening of the Twenty ninth day of
december last being then at the House of Mr. Reddy at the
Gun and Holly Bush in Cable Street aforesaid he saw a
person now present and who calls himself Daniel Empson< no role >
and another person in Company with him whose name he has
since, learned is John White< no role > drinking together at the said
House, That said Empson asked Informant how he did
to which he replied Daniel I hope you are well, said Empson
then replied never better for I have got Plenty of Money
and other things too Pointing to a Bag which lay on his
left SideEmpson then asked Informant to set down
and handed him a lot of Beer to drink when Informant
asked him of he had been on Board Ship. Empson
answered yes.Informant asked him if he had robbed
the Cabbin, said Empson replied yes. again asked him if
there was no Person on Board the ship. Empson said only
the Cabin boy to whom he gave a Glass of Liquor who went
either into the hold or on Shore at which time he took the
Bundle or Bag away which he then had with him,
Empson all this time was swaggering how rich he was
and what Property he had got Informanttookasked
him if he had not broke any Locks to which he answered
that is nothing to nobody, the property is mine, I have
got Enough to make a man of me as Long as I Live and
have got more about me by Ten times than what is in
the Bag. for what I know, Saith White then said to
Empson let us go, to which he Answered I will as when I. please but I will gave you half
a Crown White refused taking the half Crown and said
he would Stick close to him while he had anything in the
Bag, unless he would give him five shillings, Empson
then called for another Pot of Beer drank to White and
