Examination TextElizabeth Medcalf aged 19 years and upwards destitute of lodging upon her oath saith she is the wife of Thomas Medcalf (who has been gone from her three months) to whom she was married at May Fair Chapple about 13 months ago, that he was a Black Smith by trade and was bound apprentice by indenture for seven years to Mr John Lucas of the Parish of St. Mary le Strand, a Black Smith, and there served about two years and then his said Master John Lucas removed into the Strand facing Bullen Court in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields where he served him three years [and a] half, and then his master bought the remainder of his time which is about 17 months ago since which time he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year or paid any parish taxes. Sworn the 30th of December 1748 before Daniel Gach.
