Examination TextWilliam Middleton aged 50 years now and in-patient in London Infirmary upon his oath saith that he was bound an apprentice by indenture for seven years to John Bryan a Shoemaker in St Martin's Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields where he continued and served the said John Bryan two months and then his said Master removed into Bennet's Court in the Strand in the Parish aforesaid and there served the remainder of his time out which expired about 30 years ago, since which time he never kept house or rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes or was a yearly hired servant for 12 months together, that he was married to his wife Martha at the Fleet nine years ago by whom he has two children to wit William aged 20 months and Martha aged one months both with his said wife in the workhouse belonging to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid. Sworn the 19th January 1749 before Daniel Gach.
