Examination TextElizabeth Collyer aged 20 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she never was married bound apprentice kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes, but that she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Sussey at Monmouth Head [sic] the corner of Hemmings Row in the Parish aforesaid for the space of 14 months at the yearly wages of 4 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same about 18 months ago and never was a servant in any one place for 12 months together or gained any other settlement. Taken at the workhouse the day and year above said [17th August 1748].
