Examination TextElizabeth Nowell aged 31 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the wife of Richard Nowell (now in Hyde Park Infirmary) to whom she was married at Stroud Water in the County of Gloucester, that he is a Shoemaker by trade and lived in and rented an house in Heath Cock Court in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of three years and [a] half at the yearly rent of 11 pounds besides taxes, quitted the same six years ago and hath never kept house since, that she hath three children now living by her said husband to wit Hannah aged 11 years, James aged five years, both in the workhouse aforesaid, and Elizabeth aged 20 months, now Mr Howard's in Cross Lane in the Parish aforesaid. Taken at the workhouse the day and year above said [17th August 1748].
