Examination TextMary Smith aged 25 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish St Martin in the Fields passed as a vagrant from the Borough of Milbourn, part of the County of Somerset, upon her oath saith that she is the wife of Thomas Smith (who died about 10 weeks ago) to whom she was married at Plymouth four years ago next Christmas, that he was a Cordwainer by trade and as her said husband has informed this informant served his apprenticeship to one William Smith a Cordwainer in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid, but the particular place she cannot tell, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since, nor hath she this Examinant since her said husband's death. Sworn the 12th Day of November 1751 before Benjamin Cox.
