Examination TextMary Saunders aged 29 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St Giles in the Fields in the County of Middlesex upon her oath saith that she is the widow of John Saunders (run away) to whom she was married at the ffleet in the year 1743, that he is a Cordwainer by trade and served the last five years of his apprenticeship to Mr Bevan a Cordwainer in Cross Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since. Taken in the workhouse of 28th Day of October 1754.
