Examination TextElizabeth Abby aged 30 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St. James within the liberty of Westminster upon her oath saith that she is the wife of James Abby (gone from her) to whom she was married at the Fleet about 14 years ago, that he is a Cordwainer by trade but where he learnt the same she this Examinant cannot tell, that he was born in the Kingdom of Ireland but the particular part she cannot tell, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together to this Examinant's knowledge, that she this Examinant before her intermarriage was a yearly hired servant to Mr Forrister a Glover in New Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid for the space of one year and three quarters at the yearly wages of 4 pounds the first year and 5 pounds the second year diet and lodging and intermarried with her said husband about six months after quitting her said servitude. Taken in the workhouse the 16th Day of December 1754.
