Examination TextWilliam Kellett aged 28 years and upwards in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St Margaret Westminster upon his oath saith that he is a Silver Buckle Maker by trade and was bound an apprentice by an indenture for seven years bearing date the 27th Day of November 1738 to Humphrey Phillips a Silver Buckle Maker in Charles Court in the Strand in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid and there served about four years and three quarters and then went to Sea, and there served the remainder of the said time out which expired in the year 1745, that he never kept house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant since, that he was married to his late wife Amelia (deceased) at Gosport in Hampshire about seven years ago by whom he hath three children living to wit Ann aged six years and upwards, William aged almost four years and Mary aged two years all now in the workhouse aforesaid. Sworn the 23rd Day of November 1754 before Benjamin Cox.
