Examination TextEdmund Bigg aged about 45 years lodging next the Two Blue Posts in Off Alley York buildings in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon his oath saith that he is a Fan Stick Maker by trade and was bound an apprentice by indenture for seven years to William Sutton a Fan Stick Maker in Swan Alley in the Parish of St Anne Black Fryers London and there served about one year and an half, and then his said Master died, and then this Examinant was assigned over to Mr Banks a Fan Stick Maker near Chapel Alley in Long Acre in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid and there served all the remainder of his said term out which expired in the year 1735, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes, but that he this Examinant since the expiration of his said apprenticeship, being never married, was a yearly hired servant to Mr Woodruff an Upholsterer in Panton Street in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of one year at the yearly wages of 7 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same about 12 years ago, that he hath not been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since. Sworn the 31st Day of January 1758 before me Benjamin Cox.
