Examination TextMary Barker aged 25 Years upon her Oath saith that she was never Married nor bound Apprentice , that she served One year and Nine Months all under a yearly hiring with Mr Thomas Jones in Hewets Court in the Parish of Saint Martin in the ffields act Pounds by the Year Wages Diet & lodging quitted the same about ffive Years ago, since which she had not been a yearly hired Servant in any place for Twelve Months together not done any Act to gain a subsequent Settlement. And this Examinant upon her voluntary Oath further saith that she was on the Third Day of April last delivered in the workhouse of and in the Parish of Saint Martin in the ffields of affemale Bastard Child baptised Elizabeth yet living and no chargeable to the said Parish . and that Robert Ellis ( Who is a Shoemaker & , who she has been informed resides act Newcastle upon Tyne ) had several Times carnal Knowledge of Body and did beget of her body the said ffemale Bastard Child and that he the said Robert Ellis days the true & only ffather thereof and Man else. Sworn this 6th Day of May 1794 before me John Collick Mary Barker her Mark
