Examination Text | The Examination of Mary Nicholls wife of Daniel Nicholls a soldier now at Plymouth taken upon oath this 24th Day of April 1762. This Examinant and that her oath saith that Amelia Nicholls, an infant aged 11 years passed from the Parish liberty of Saffron Hill Hatton Garden and Ely Rents in the Parish of St Andrew Holborn in the County of Middlesex to the Parish of St Martin in the Fields, is a she hath been informed by her husband the daughter of her said husband by Amelia his late wife deceased, that her said husband is a Cordwainer by trade and was bound an apprentice by an indenture for seven years to Mr Hatton in Russell Court in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields and there served all his said time out which expired several years ago, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant since the expiration of his said apprenticeship. Sworn the day and year abovesaid before Benjamin Cox. |
