Examination TextFrances Hockey aged 38 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St Andrew Holborn above the Bars in the County of Middlesex upon her oath saith that she is the wife of William Hockey (gone from her) to whom she was married the ffleet the 11th Day of September in the year 1748, that he is a Sawyer by trade and lived in and rented an house in Mercer Street in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for some time, but how long this Examinant cannot tell (it being before her intermarriage with her said husband), that she this Examinant hath been informed by her said husband that it was for the space of two or three years at the yearly rent of 10 pounds besides taxes, when he quitted the same she this Examinant cannot tell, that he hath not rented 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes since he quitted the aforesaid house, that she hath two children living by her said husband to wit Elizabeth aged nine years and George aged two years and upwards both now with this Examinant. Sworn the fourth Day of February 1762 before Thomas Balack.
